Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior leadership team to prioritize issues that matter to the future of our region
  • Direct the vision of our efforts to connect community and civic engagement to policy change
  • Lead multiple Massive Community Engagements (with the goal of engaging community in the conversation about solutions to local issues):
    • Design and execute high-impact community engagement experiences that elevate issues of critical importance, generate viable solutions, and lead to meaningful policy and community change. This requires the Director to:
      • Project plan like a complete logistical monster
      • Rally a diverse array of partners, supporters, leaders, and community members towards a common goal.
      • Write powerful, accessible content that helps the larger community engage with purpose and enthusiasm
      • Manage team members to execute community engagements

    • Manage project budgets, including some fundraising for projects
    • Prepare and facilitate workshops related to civic and community engagement and leadership
    • Strengthen the organization as a whole by supporting team members, providing substantive professional development for team, and finding constant ways to improve the collective
    • Represent Radical Partners in public forums, including at conferences and workshops and in government spaces such as commission meetings and public hearings

Who We're Looking For:

Experience:

  • Significant community engagement and policy experience
  • Advanced Degree in Policy, Law, or a related field preferred
  • Track record of managing large-scale projects from conception to completion with minimal oversight
  • Experience managing and developing others to achieve both project-related and professional goals

Qualities:

  • Incredible interpersonal skills. You have the chops to manage, motivate, and rally large and diverse groups of people, from mayors and CEOS to grandparents and students, ensuring everyone feels like the most important person in the room. You pick up on social cues, are comfortable having difficult conversations, and genuinely love people.
  • A logistics beast. You love making order out of chaos, managing a million moving pieces, and sweating the details. You aren't just organized - you're able to organize other people, predict chaos, and prevent it.
  • Hustle. You thrive under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced work space where your work matters every day. You love learning, are thirsty for feedback, and have a sense of humor.
  • Unwavering solution orientation. You are impact driven and want to know, without a doubt, that our work contributes powerfully to our community.
  • High-quality deliverables. Your writing skills are top notch and you know both how to and when to write for different audiences. You have an eye for perfect and the drive to always execute your best work.
  • Hunger for feedback. You constantly seek feedback and input from our team and others in order to improve the outcomes of your work.
  • Willingness to take risks, comfort failing publicly, and good judgement about when you should cut your losses and move on.

Non-negotiables:

  • Willingness to do it all. We're a small team, and we all take full ownership for the success and direction of the company. There is no job too big or too small. You may rally a crowd of 1,000 people and sharpen pencils in the same afternoon.
  • Miami-evangelist. You believe in the potential of this town, want to be part of writing our future, and take an interest in government and policy, network building, nonprofit leadership, corporate social responsibility, placemaking, civic engagement, and have a few social impact issues that get you fired up.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion. We're all about elevating voices and spreading power.

Details:

Competitive salary and modest stipend for benefits. Insane team of collaborators. Laughter and meaning every day.
