Katherine is a fierce social innovator, a dedicated educator, and serves as the policy advisor fellow on our team. As a Miami native with big dreams for the 305, Katherine has spent the past seven years advocating for students as a teacher and leader in South Florida schools, with a particular focus on equity and social justice. A perpetual innovator, she has co-founded two companies in the last three years: her first venture is FitLit, a non-profit that blends fitness and literature for students, and her second is MetaMindset, an LLC that trains teachers, parents, and students on mindfulness, understanding the brain, and the importance of emotional intelligence. She has a Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins University, claims Spanglish to be her first language, is a twitter aficionado, and is our resident storyteller.
David is our powerhouse student intern, bringing his talent, perspective, and support to our entire team. He serves as Student Body President for his school, takes five AP courses, and brings down the house as the Great Gatsby himself. This past summer he had the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel abroad to Ghana with the Nyah Project. This fellowship instilled in him what it means to be a global leader and thinker. When the days events come to a close, David likes to kick back and watch an episode or two of his favorite tv show.
Arohi is our team's inaugural Civic Impact Fellow. She brings experience in non-profit operations, a fantastic eye for design, and a wicked sense of humor. When she's not with us, she is serving as Manager of Development Operations at Teach For America and immersing herself in the social impact ecosystem of our region. She fell in love with this work work while serving as an ambassador for the Fulbright Seminar on Social Entrepreneurship for Afghani graduate students, which led her to obtain her Economics and International Development degrees at Miami University (the one in Ohio). She is deeply passionate about women's leadership, art & design, travel, organizational development, and cultivating joy at work.
