General Questions about the Program

  1. Who can/should apply?

While for previous iterations of the Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp we’ve welcomed leaders of for-profit or traditional non-profit organizations, for the 7th Cohort of Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp we are scouting change-makers leading for-profit social ventures or nonprofits with sustainable revenue models

This program is for founders or leaders who have decision-making power in the social ventures that they run, which happen to be ready to grow and scale. If you’re getting started with your venture, this program is not for you (yet) and we’d love to help you via our free office hours: you can book time here.

2. What is a sustainable revenue model?

For for-profit ventures this means you are generating revenue by selling a product or service to achieve your social impact cause. For nonprofits, it means that you are striving for the sustainability of your organization by not relying solely on charity dollars (grants, individual donations, gifts, etc…). You are working on diversifying your revenue streams by generating income in other creative ways like selling tickets for an art show, member dues & fees, selling merchandise, fee-for-service models, among others.

3. Is there a cost?

Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp costs us around $10,000 per leader to produce. We work hard to provide scholarships and make it free for all cohort members, but we ask leaders to donate what they can and pay it forward when Give Miami Day comes around.

4. What would I get out of this program?

Through skills training workshops, coaching, mentorship, and wellness sessions, we invest in the effectiveness and sustainability of 10-15 social innovators to meaningfully impact South Florida’s communities.

Our programming focuses on the following elements:

  • Vision, Mission, & Pitch - We help participants communicate their missions and visions in a clear and compelling way. Participants hone personal introductions and one-liners to strengthen storytelling techniques that help them increase buy-in for their ventures from different audiences.

  • Theory of Change - We train participants to look at the community problem they are trying to solve with a critical eye. They practice identifying the root causes of the problem and aligning their unique solutions in order to build a strong, research-backed Theory of Change.

  • Fundraising Strategy & Techniques - We demystify budgeting and fundraising and empower participants with concrete tools and strategies for writing a basic budget, setting and meeting funding targets, and making different types of asks.

  • Personal Branding & Power Building - We focus on naming target audiences and reflect on possible misconceptions about organizational and personal brands. Participants also build skill in identifying and cultivating meaningful relationships towards achieving specific goals.

  • Project Planning & Team Management - We analyze why projects fail and equip participants with project planning resources. We guide participants through the steps of creating a detailed timeline and project plan and help them practice effective team communication strategies.

  • Impact Evaluation & Storytelling - We identify measurement tools that help participants assess the impact of their solutions. Participants gain access to survey development resources and research and evaluation tools that allow them to quantify and communicate their impact in communities.

Once completed, you will be part of our RP Alumni and receive ongoing support like one-on-one coaching, roundtables, visibility opportunities, and access to the whole alumni network of 140+ social impact leaders.

5. What does the time commitment look like for the leader?

Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is a 4-month-long leadership development program that requires preparation and follow-up work throughout the entire process (from August to December).

The program consists of SIX half-day in-person learning workshops (breakfast or dinner will be provided) happening on Thursdays and FOUR 1-hour one-on-one coaching sessions (taking place at a time to be coordinated with a coach).

In addition to FOUR hours of other engagements, including kick-off and closing gathering.

We want to make sure that all of our applicants are fully committed and available for each and every session. Before applying, please make sure that you are available to attend every single event so that you can be sure to make the most of your experience.

6. What are the key dates? *

7. Where will the program take place?

The venues for the Kick-Off and Closing Gathering are still to be determined. All other workshops will be held at The Idea Center in Miami-Dade College’s Wolfson Campus (315 Northeast 2nd Avenue Building 8, 5th Floor, Miami, FL 33132).

8. What if I don’t finish the program?

We seek applicants who can attend ALL engagements and coaching sessions as scheduled individually. With the amount of work being done in each session, we understand that many leaders need more time. That is why we have built in a week break between each of the workshops. We encourage leaders to use those days in between sessions to finalize their work.

More Application Tips

  • Don't wait until the last minute to start your application: Be sure to draft, proofread, and revise. Working on the application in advance will also help you avoid any unforeseen technical issues. We highly recommend downloading the application questions from our website to draft your responses prior to submitting online.

  • Be specific: Our most successful applications are extremely specific and clear. When in doubt, more specific answers and anecdotes are more illustrative than generalizations and clichés.

  • Be straightforward: Avoid industry-specific jargon and terminology in your responses. Assume that the reader of your application may not have content-specific knowledge. Keep things simple.

  • Longer isn't better. Be clear and to the point when communicating your message. We provide word limits for many of the questions but it is not required to fill the word count.

  • Have fun while you’re at it. Keep in mind that several social innovators will be reading your application. Use it as an opportunity to remember why you do what you do and for the readers to fall in love with your work.

  • Follow Radical Partners on social media. Come get familiarized with our work culture and get inspired by the work of our 140+ alums.

Thank you to our partners for making this work possible.
